2010 has had an auspicious beginning with our presentation of We Built This City at the International Performing Arts for Youth Showcase in Pittsburgh, USA. The work will return to Melbourne for a brief season in Ferntree Gully before several exciting other presentations around the world… more information coming soon. We’re very excited and can’t wait to share all our new plans with y’all!
There will of course be plenty of chances to see several of Polyglot’s works throughout Australia in 2010. Keep your eyes peeled on our website. February sees the creative development of two new works – the making of our new show City of Riddles continues (with thanks to our latest partners on board for the project, the Ian Potter Foundation and the Matana Foundation for Youth) ahead of its November premiere, alongside the development of How High The Sky in partnership with the Arts Centre, which will premiere way down the track in 2012.
Both of our new works have been supported by members of Polyglot’s
Ambassadors’ Circle who have donated both small and large amounts to help us reach over 60 000 children annually through our range of programs. We encourage you to be a member from just $200.

HOW HIGH THE SKY |
With thanks to the Arts Centre’s Full Tilt program, we are beginning an early creative development on a new project called How High The Sky – a tactile interactive performance for children from birth to four years of age, which is set in the clouds. Set to premiere in 2012, this early development will feature workshops with babies from the Central Carlton Children’s Centre alongside our creative team Sue Giles and Jessica Wilson (co-directors), Anna Tregloan (designer), David Franzke (sound designer) and Andrew Livingstone (lighting designer). On 9 and 10 February, our artists will share the babies’ play space and observe how children from different ages engage with their environment.

CITY OF RIDDLES |
| Polyglot’s new in-development show City of Riddles had an exciting second half of 2009, working with students from Whittington, Healesville and Badger Creek Primary School, we explored design and construction of miniature houses and their interiors. It culminated with a beautiful visual arts exhibition entitled Wish Street in December 2009.
This year, our team (Sue Giles, Daniele Poidomani and James Wilkinson) will work with students from Dinjerra Primary School in Braybrook as well as revisit the 2009 schools, to develop the show’s story and script. We are working with communities of children who for different reasons understand the notion of crisis and resilience in the face of danger. They will help us to discover what children see as the features that make up good communities and how they can be expressed. Hold your breath, this is a major new interactive work, like nothing you've seen before. Premiering in November.
SCHOOL BOOKINGS are now being taken for the City of Riddles 2010 Regional Arts Victoria Tour. If interested, please visit the RAV website and follow the instructions.
