polyglot theatre : news update
Big news this month - we're thrilled to announce two more international tours of two works. Following its award-winning run at the Shanghai International Children's Theatre Festival in 2009, Check Out! will tour to Korea in May, to the prestigious National Theatre of Korea, and Nowon Theatre in Seoul, premiering on 4 May 2010, ahead of Korea's National Children's Day celebrations of 5 May. A last minute injury has made cast member Justine Warner unavailable for the tour, so we welcome Beth McMahon to the show, alongside Bruce Paterson and Mischa Long who have been touring with Check Out! since 2008. The trio will perform both Check Out! and our classic dinosaur actTooth and Claw.

Following Korea (and our January tour to Pittsburgh), we are proud to announce a third international tour this year: Check Out! has also been selected as part of the Hong Kong International Arts Carnival program in August. We are firming up some other major international activity this year - we're struggling to keep this one under our hats - expect a major announcement coming soon.

For those heading to Bendigo for the long weekend, we will be returning with our classic hit We Built This City for the Bendigo Easter Weekend this Sunday and Monday.

City of Riddles development continues
Exploration of our new work City of Riddles continues on apace as the artists work alongside kids from Dinjerra Primary School in Melbourne's western suburbs. Through drawing and animation techniques we are experimenting with story structures, creating images for an animation piece in the show and working out how three dimensional construction can happen with children doing all the work. We leave each session covered in charcoal and full of ideas.
We welcome animation artist Nick Barlow to the creative team. City of Riddles has been selected to pitch to presenters at industry forum Long Paddock in Parramatta next week for extensive touring in 2011.

Palm Oil Campaign
In 2009, Polyglot contributed to the Melbourne Zoo's Don't Palm Us Off campaign by creating a beautiful orang-utan puppet by artist Tim Wells. The Zoo is lobbying for compulsory labelling of palm oil on consumer products. Demand for palm oil is contributing to destruction of Malaysian rainforests at an alarming rate.

Ticket Giveaway -
Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane

Oh my gosh! It's the brand new show from the award-winning creators of the international smash-hit, Sammy J in the Forest of Dreams!
Meet Sammy J (skinny man) and Randy (purple puppet), two very different housemates with very different pasts.
Sammy's an underpaid, overworked, tax lawyer. Randy hardly works at all. He's been married, divorced, thrown from a hovercraft and seen the world from all angles. But when Sammy uncovers some financial skeletons in Randy's closet, things are going to get awkward at the breakfast table. They're about to learn that friendship and full-scale tax fraud don't mix.

For a chance to WIN 2 double passes to this show on Wed 7 April 2010, be the first two to email jane@buxtonwalker.com before Tuesday 6 April, 10am. ADULTS ONLY.
