Season’s greetings from all at Polyglot. 2008 has been an extraordinary year for Polyglot – with appearances at the Melbourne International Arts Festival and international congresses UNIMA and ASSITEJ, alongside performances at the Awesome Festival, the Arts Centre and the Sydney Opera House, five in-school tours, the launch of our Tap puppetry residencies, two new works, a schools residency project, a workshops program, loads of one-off performances and festival appearances and much, much more.
Polyglot staff are also jetsetting off around the world with Artistic Director Sue Giles recenly returning from a week spent in Yogyakarta, Indonesia with a local puppet company Papermoon Puppet Theatre. Her time there was spent working with
Artistic Director Maria Tri Sulistyani on Dalam Sebuah Perjalanan (On a Journey). The connection between the companies (Papermoon and Polyglot) is strong and reason for being remarkably similar. Thanks Asialink for making it possible – thanks Papermoon for making it memorable.
General Manager Simon Abrahams is also travelling to the United States in January to attend the International Performing Arts for Youth Showcase. Watch this space for updates about his travels.
We’re looking forward to another big year in 2009 including Check Out! undertaking a 57-day theatres tour which will travel 4,834 kilometres across Victoria in February, March and April 2009. We also have an international tour lined up, plus a new show to premiere, another Tap residency, workshops and loads more. Thanks for your support in 2008 and rest assured – Polyglot remains a vibrant centre of artistic opportunity, creating original theatrical adventures for children, nationally and internationally.
The Polyglot office will be closed from 19th December, 2008 until 5 January, 2009. |
